On March 2, 2010, Vice Mayor of Qingdao Municipal Government, President of Qingdao yachting association Xiulin Wang paid a special visit to Qingdao Administration Center of Sailing Sports to inspect and guide work. He gave a specific guidance and put forward ardent hopes on further strengthening the yacht management and deeply constructing “Sailing Capital”.

    Vice Mayor Xiulin Wang visited staff in Qingdao Administration Center of Sailing Sports. He pointed out Qingdao was China's first city to develop Yachting. Qingdao enjoys a 50 years history of sailing sports. Qingdao was the one of the best venues either for sake of the history, geography or culture. With the successful "high level and unique" hosting of 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition, Paralympics Sailing competition, "Olympics, Sailing" has become a symbol of Qingdao elements. As a result, Qingdao won itself the name card of China's "sailing capital". Based on the rapid development of economics and social undertakings, Qingdao sailing industry has also been growing rapidly. Facing the fact that Administration Center of Sailing Sports has only been set up for a short time and the staff are young lacking of rich practical experience. The Vice Mayor taught us that firstly, we must recognize the importance of our positions. It was a municipal strategic decision-making and everyone’s glorious mission on shoulder to construct “Sailing Capital”. Secondly, we should work hard to master language tools. To carry out effective plans based on adhering to learning English, we must learn some French, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish language and foreign etiquette to meet the needs of constructing a modern international city and communicating with foreign sailing culture. Thirdly, we should pay close attention to sailing professional knowledge via books, documentary films, Internet and other ways to understand sailing knowledge. It is also encouraged to enhance abilities to effectively carry out the Olympic spirit, popularize the sailing knowledge, focus on resource development, and to strengthen the role of international exchange.

    Vice Mayor Xiulin Wang learnt about the preparatory work of the Qingdao Olympic Sailing City Development Committee and 2010 Qingdao International Sailing Week. He pointed out the necessity to speed up the preparation of Qingdao Olympic Sailing City, build a good working platform to further extend and promote the Olympic Sailing spirit. It is highly required to accelerate the preparation of International Sailing Week 2010, to form delegations to take part in the communication and promotion activities in Kiel Week (Germany), and to make reasonable task breakdown of forum invitation. Furthermore, emphasis should be given on speeding up sponsoring, investment attraction, site advertisement, title sponsorship、publicity materials exhibition, various media advertising, and on researching sponsor return on equity to attract enterprises to participate.

    In order to further promote the sailing career, Vice Mayor Xiulin Wang held that firstly, we should study and learn from the collaboration between Beijing and the Olympic media, strengthen strategic cooperation with the media to better publicize sailing. We need to choose the prime entry among industries and product hotspots by continuously summarizing advertisement hotspots and regularities, and reinforcing the cooperation with CCTV, Phoenix TV, Shandong Satellite TV, etc to enhance influence by a higher and broader media platform. Secondly, we should built long-term planning and cooperation with companies and keep improving donor certificates, badges, souvenirs and other small details leaving the partner companies with a more profound impression. Thirdly, we should organize sailing events on a higher point, with a long-term planning perspective.

    Vice Mayor Wang gave us a new lesson with earnest words in logical thinking to the staff of Administration Center of Sailing Sports, increasing everyone‘s enthusiasm and motivation to learn new skills and promote capacities for a better job.
