Guo Chuan, the Qingdao captain, set up a new world sailing record

    On 12:48 am of September 16th Beijing time, Guo Chuan originated from Qingdao and his international team steered the “China ·Qingdao” sailing ship and crossed the destination line in the Bering Strait after sailing about 3,240 sea miles over the Arctic Ocean into the Pacific Ocean for over 12 days and 3 hours. It has set a world record for humankind to sail through the Northeast channel in the North Pole non-intermittently without any supplies for the first time. It depicts a new glorious chapter for human navigational history.

    Guo Chuan led 5 international crews and set off on September 3rd from Murmansk, the “Heroic City” in Russia, went via Barents, Laptev, Nordenskiold and the Bering Straits and completed this astounding sailing trip in the North Pole all over the world.

    After crossing the destination line, the “China·Qingdao” will turn southward and continue the non-berthing and non-supply sailing until Qingdao finally. After arrival in Qingdao, they will send the black box recording sailing data on the ship to the Record Committee of International Sailing Federation. The committee will interpret the black box and publish the accurate world record data after verifying the data at the time of crossing the destination line transmitted by the timekeeper.
