On August 11, 2020, the Closing and Awarding Ceremony of Qingdao International Optimist Training Camp & Regatta 2020 was held in the square in front ofthe International Conference Center at the Olympic Sailing Center. The ceremony was attended by relevant officials, sailors, team leaders and coaches of 18 participating teams from across the country, as well asstaff of the organizing committee.

After five days of fierce competitions, the results of the 107 competitors were settled. Feng Zifan of Team Dasen Sports Seal Sailing Club, Zhao Meifang of Team Weifang, Ji Zhonghe of Team Suzhou Eight Flags Club, and Pan Xiaoyou of Team Suzhou Seaman Sailing Club won the championship of theboys’ Gold Group,girls’ Gold Group,boys’ Silver Group andgirls’ Silver Group respectively. At 16:30, theClosing andAwarding ceremony was grandly held in the square in front of the International Conference Center. At the ceremony, the Chief Umpire announced the results of the regatta, and officials and guests presented trophies and certificates to the winners of the regatta. The joyful cheers of the young sailors ignited the climax of the closing ceremony. At the end, Luan Xin, Vice Mayor of Qingdao Municipal Government and Vice President of Qingdao Major International Sailing Events (Festivals) Organizing Committee, announced the closure of Qingdao International Optimist Training Camp & Regatta 2020.

In the seven-day Optimist regatta, the young campers rode the wind and waves and worked hard for the championship, showing the tenacity and fortitude of the Chinese sailing youths in the new era. The regatta also offered the opportunity for young campers to find their strengths and weaknesses, which will help them achieve better results in future.
