On October 25 local time, the World Sailing Awards 2022 was held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Qingdao was awarded the President’s Development Award in honour of its efforts to develop the city of Qingdao as China’s Sailing City, the only city to win this annual award this year in the world. Mr. Qu Chun, Secretary General of Qingdao Major International Sailing Events(Festivals) Organizing Committee and President of China Marine Sports Academy, staged to accept the award on behalf of Qingdao.

In the report, the World Sailing highly praised Qingdao's achievements in introducing and hosting international sailing events, promoting and popularizing sailing sport, and carrying out the international exchanges. Following the Award for Outstanding Contribution to World Sailing Sport Development of the ISAF(former name of the World Sailing) in 2015 and the Award for Ten Years Sailing City of the ISAF in 2016, it is another important world award that Qingdao has been honored for its outstanding achievements in sailing field after six years.
