Since January of 2022, Qingdao in Shandong province has prioritized promoting urban renewal and construction, especially the construction of city facilities.

With the goal of improving the ecological environment and people's quality of life, the city has increased the total amount of green space and made use of green spaces to create a park city.

Qingdao aims to build an urban greenway network, 200 parks, 100 tree-lined corridors and 300 green zones.

The city's urban park construction has completed 350 projects, 60 mountain parks, 102 kilometers of urban greenways, 60 pocket parks, 50 tree-lined corridors and 110 greening zones.

The framework of a park city has been preliminarily constructed to provide citizens with more leisure and fitness places of higher quality.

The number of greening projects and the amount of investment in Qingdao are at the forefront of the province's priorities.

As small urban green spaces, pocket parks are arranged seamlessly in cities where high-rise buildings are.

They play an important role in improving the urban ecological environment and facilitating people's fitness activities.

Implementing the construction of 120 pocket parks is one of the important tasks in Qingdao's three-year action plan.

On Dec 22, the information office of Qingdao held a news conference titled Urban Renewal and Vivid Practice of Urban Construction to introduce the construction of the city's urban facilities this year.

Ding Shugeng, member of the Party group and deputy director of the city's housing and urban-rural development bureau, said in terms of road construction, Qingdao focuses on the construction of major roads to accelerate the rapid network and make citizens travel more smoothly.

"This year, we promoted the construction of 12 key projects and 42 unconnected roads have been opened up within the city," Ding said.

He said that Qingdao adheres to the concept of green development during the entire construction process. The concrete imitation stone curb technology was promoted according to local conditions and many projects achieved zero use of natural stone.

In terms of public facility construction, Qingdao focuses on building a modern system with complete, efficient and practical, intelligent and green, safe and reliable functions and builds a number of heavyweight and landmark projects such as the Jiaozhou Bay Submarine Natural Gas Pipeline.

Qingdao continues to improve the city's public service levels. The city reduced carbon emissions and improved the quality of the ecological environment by implementing seven clean heating"coal-to-gas" projects. A total of 19 coal-fired boilers and 21 gas-fired boilers have been built.
