Winner List of Excellent Photographs and Cultural Works on Global Sailing

  The Selection of Excellent Photographs and Cultural Works on Global Sailing sponsored by Qingdao Olympic Sailing City Development Association in collaboration with World Union of Olympic Cities and Beijing Olympic City Development Association was launched in early January this year. After eight months, the organizing committee has so far received 1,000 pieces of photographic works from 16 countries and regions including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, the United States, New Zealand, Thailand, Oman, Japan, South Korea and Russia.

  The panel of judges is composed of Deng Wei, deputy director of General Editorial Office of Economic Daily and vice chairman of China Photographers Association, Wang Miao, editor-in-chief of Hong Kong China Tourism Press and council member of China Photographers Association, Mark, a famous photographer and an editor of Contact Press Images, Wang Baoguo, senior editor and director of the first editorial department, China Photography, and Ren Xihai, former vice chairman of Shandong Photographers Association.


  Prize-winning entries have been selected according to the panel review and public voting through the Internet. The final decision was made, based on 70 percent of the panel review and 30 percent of the public voting. The results are as follows:

  The first prize goes to China Cup International Regatta in 2011 by Italian photographer Carlo Borlenghi.

  The second prize goes to such three photographs as American’s Cup World Series by New Zealand photographer Chris Cameron, Sailing Cruise, Beagle Channel in South America by American photographer Daniel Foster, and Volvo Ocean Race by French photographer Ian Roman.


  The third prize goes to six entries including a photograph by French photographer Gilmore Hallite, 2009 Rangali Island Circuit by Jacques Vapillon, 2009 North America OP Championship by Argentinian photographer Matías Capizzano , Arab Yachting Circuit by Lloyd Photograph Studio of Oman Air, 2007 Qingdao International Sailing Test Event by British photographer Robert Langdon and Qingdao International Sailing Week: the Sea Carnival Parade Named “A Thousand Boats Set Sail" by Chinese photographer Yao Xiangmin.
 
  Certificates of Honor and a set of exquisite souvenirs will be awarded to each prize-winning (exhibition) organization and individual. Prizes will be awarded according to different categories.

  The photographers or representatives of the submitting organizations of the award-winning works will be invited by the organizing committee to attend relevant victory ceremonies during the 4th Qingdao International Sailing Week.

  The prizes include:
  One first prize, 3,000 US dollars;
  Three second prizes, 2,000 US dollars;
  Six third prizes, 1,000 US dollars, as well as a couple of memorial prizes, including a set of souvenirs of the Qingdao International Sailing Week.

  All the above-mentioned cash prizes are pre-tax prizes, and the organizing committee will deduct the due tax from the prizes in accordance with China’s rules and regulations governing taxation. Some memorial prizes which include a set of souvenirs are also available.
